Short description

The competition is organized by the South Australian Museum.

The annual Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition calls on photographers from around the world to celebrate the fauna, flora and natural formations of the Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and the New Guinea region. Submitted entries capture incredible moments in time, bearing witness to the unique beauty of the world around us.

The competition’s categories are:
• Animals in Nature
• Aerial
• Macro
• Landscape
• Threatened Species
• Monochrome
• Our Impact
• Astrophotography
• Portfolio
• Junior

All entries must be submitted via the competition website.

Entry fees
The cost of entry remains A$38 for the first image and A$22 for each subsequent image.
Entries in the Junior Photography section: A$10 for the first entry and A$5 for each additional entry.

Prizes
The overall winner will receive A$10,000
Each of the open category winners receives A$1,500 and the runner-up of each category receives A$500.
There is a A$1,500 prize for the best portfolio.
The Junior category winner receives A$500 and the runner up receives A$250.
The People’s Choice winner receives A$500.
