The competition is organized by the California Academy of Sciences.
″ Now in its 12th year, BigPicture encourages photographers from around the world to contribute their work to this competition that both celebrates and illustrates the rich diversity of life on Earth and inspires action to protect and conserve it through the power of imagery.
The BigPicture Photo Competition has the following categories:
Art of Nature
Aquatic Life
Winged Life
Landscapes, Waterscapes, and Flora
Terrestrial Wildlife
Human/Nature
2025 Photo Story: In My Backyard
Entry fees
$25 for up to 10 single image submissions in any category
$15 for each 6–8 image Photo Story submission
Prizes
Grand Prize: $5,000
First Place for each category (7 total): $1,000
